Episode 13 | I Like My Punk with a Side of Pop

Pop punk is making a comeback and we are here to talk about it! This episode is all about the iconic punk subgenre - from the early beginnings in the late 70s and 80s to its revival in the 2020s. It's a longer episode but its a good one, especially since we are joined by Blink-182's number one fan (Drew). Although it is a beloved genre, is pop punk actually considered punk? Tune in for our opinion and be sure to share yours either in the poll on Spotify or on our Instagram @listentoeverything.pod. Thanks for listening!

This last song is a bonus because it was released after we recorded this episode. On blink-182's latest album ONE MORE TIME..., we have the song DANCE WITH ME where the music video pays homage to The Ramones which are one of the earlier examples of pop punk. The olé, olé's in the song are also reminiscent of the "hey ho, let's go!" in The Ramones most famous song Blitzkrieg Bop (the first song in this playlist). It all comes full circle!
